Donni Davy, well known for her Emmy award-winning makeup on HBO’s Euphoria, talks of how having the double winged eyeliner look on both girls, Cassie and Maddy, was weirdly one of the perfect makeup ideas for the scene. According to Donni, this makeup look pushed her down the road of exploring double-winged eyeliner looks on Cassie in the recent season in more soft feminine colors.
Moreover, the double-winged eyeliner trend has become a favorite makeup look for most celebrities’ makeup artists. In one of her interviews, Charli XCX’s makeup artist, Lily Keys, talks of the trend. She says, “ It opens your eyes and makes them appear bigger and more feminine, almost doll-like. You need a steady hand and some practice, but anyone can do it.”
In addition, it is safe to say that the double-winged eyeliner is the secret and perfect catalyst for a brighter and broader gaze. In short, it does magic to your eyes and how beautiful they look.
According to vintage makeup collector and makeup artist Erin Parsons, who crafted Gigi Hadid’s 60s-inspired wings for the Met Gala in 2021, the double-winged eyeliner pulls the eyes upward and outward, adding length to the eyes and ultimately lifts and widens the eyes.
